Genzyme Genetics Competitive Scholarship
Purpose – To support student scholarships in the Cytogenetics bachelor of science or post-baccalaureate certificate programs
Eligibility – Admission to a Cytogenetics program at the UT Health Science Center; 3.2 entering GPA
Selection Criteria – Previous academic performance; knowledge of and commitment to the profession of Cytogenetics; evidence of organizational skills and attention to detail; authorization to work within the United States
Application – Genzyme Genetics Competitive Scholarship application; one-page essay on why the student wishes to pursue a career in Cytogenetics; copy of college/university transcripts (unofficial copies are acceptable)

Additional Information – Recipients of this scholarship will be awarded scholarships of $10,000 each. In addition, Genzyme Genetics in Santa Fe, New Mexico, will award monthly stipends of $500 while the recipient is in attendance on campus, and $1000 monthly stipends while the student attends clinical rotations in Santa Fe. The total award (scholarship and stipend) totals $18,000 for the program. Recipients must agree to accept employment with Genzyme Genetics for two years following graduation from the Cytogenetics program.Â
